Singer Jewel to be Spokesperson for First Annual National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and The Plastic Surgery Foundation (PSF) have joined forces to launch the first annual National Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day, to be commemorated on October 17, 2012. Award-winning musician and philanthropist Jewel will be the face of the campaign as the spokesperson for this day.

This campaign serves to spread awareness of the options of breast reconstruction after a mastectomy, information that many women are unaware of.

Jewel will be advocating for the first National BRA Day, even having written a song in honor of breast reconstruction patients. The songstress will perform it at a charitable concert on October 29 in New Orleans, and proceeds will benefit breast reconstruction organizations.
