New York Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan Undergoes Lap Band Surgery

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is looking like a quarterback these days.

Ryan has lost 106 pounds thanks to lap band surgery. Lap band surgery makes the stomach smaller by employing an inflatable silicone ring in the stomach that lessens food intake. After the surgery, doctors can adjust the tightness of the band to regulate food intake.

Lap band surgery is only intended for patients with a body mass index of over 40 or if they have other issues like diabetes or sleep apnea.

Once the weight comes off, the battle isn’t over. Patents need to remain conscious of their diet and their exercise regimen to maintain the weight loss.
