Since her divorce from director Sam Mendes, actress Kate Winslet has decided to spend most of her time in London and is not too keen to stay in New York City at the property her former husband signed over to her. Therefore, up for grabs is the former couple’s fashionable 3,300 square foot loft in Manhattan’s prestigious West Chelsea neighborhood.
After the property was signed over to her, Winslet put the posh penthouse up for rent a week later. The asking rate at the present time is $30,000 per month, and the property features a 1,700 square foot terrace on the roof with views of the Hudson and High-Line.
The bright and airy, high-priced home at 532 West 22nd Street in the desirable area also boasts of a gourmet kitchen, plenty of space to entertain guests, 4 bedrooms and 3 and a half bathrooms. 13 foot ceilings are standard throughout as are oversized windows and tastefully laid-out interiors.
While the asking price may seem steep to the ordinary person, many in the real estate industry in New York state that the rental market has been growing much more than expected. Demand for upscale rental apartments is high, and Winslet will have no problems finding tenants for her property; in fact she will probably be able to pick and choose.
