Diet and Moisture Most Important Factors For Fresh, Hydrated Skin

NYC dermatologist Doris Day weighed in on how multivitamin supplements can impact overall complexion. While she agrees that certain nutrients have an effect on skin’s appearance, she maintains that the body absorbs nutrients more efficiently from food. Thus, eating a diet high in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and nutritious fruits, vegetables, and spices can be one of the best things you can do for your skin. These compounds help repair and prevent damage to the skin, giving it the most lustrous appearance, and most diets contain an ample amount for skin.

However, if your diet is low in omega-3’s from salmon, walnuts, or almonds, a fish oil supplement can help to reduce redness and inflammation. When skin becomes chapped from cold winter air, even the healthiest diet cannot hydrate from the inside out. You should soothe parched skin with a moisturizer, and supplement its health with a well-balanced diet.
