Add Cosmetic Surgery to List of Back to School Needs

More school kids are adding cosmetic surgery to back-to-school needs.

With the school year fast approaching, students are getting set with the traditional purchased of pencils and backpacks. Now cosmetic surgeons are reporting that their services are becoming part of back to school shopping as well.

A recent study shows an uptick in young patients seeking laser treatments and other methods to remove acne scars.

Studies show 85 percent of teens and 20 percent of adults suffer from some form of acne.

Procedures like Fraxel Laser treatment works deep within the skin to help promote the skin’s natural healing processes to recover from acne scars. Many patients are choosing less invasive procedures like lasers to remove the scars and create a more smooth appearance to the skin.

Fraxel takes three to five treatments to get full results at roughly $1,000 a session.

Psychologists say that self-esteem issues in children are a growing trend with the advent of the internet and a greater awareness of bullying.
