2013 Beauty, Health and Fitness Trends

Vogue magazine assessed the top ten beauty, health, and fitness trends that everyone is bound to be buzzing about until 2014 rolls around. The first is beauty products that glow- in the dark, or in black light. Glow in the dark tape decorated the hair of models in Alexander Wang’s spring show, and a host of products are available for the average girl who wants to copy the luminescent effect. Make Up Forever’s Fluo Night powders come in eight different shades you can apply wet or dry to hair, eyes and lips for a glow under black light. Stila is debuting a line of neon “After Glow” crayons with the same effect late in March. Fuchsia will replace red as the classic lip. The pop of purple was seen on model’s pouts at Dries Van Noten, and  brands from M.A.C. to Chanel have responded in kind with tubes in the shade.

Fitist, an online scheduling tool that helps members gain access to overcrowded fitness classes will expand from New York and Los Angeles to cities around the country. It frees people from gym memberships, and allows planning of a personalized routine at boutique studios. Perfume producer, Jo Malone, collaborated with stylist Charlotte Stockdale to create decorative bottles covered in dripping paint. Now the popular fragrance, Red Roses doubles as a perfume and art. The brand Jaguar created heated scissors that will put an end to split ends forever. They are heated to 310 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat helps close off the hair cuticle when it is cut to protect hair from environmental damage. The Paleo diet steps into the 21st century, expanding the list of acceptable foods from meat, fruit, nuts and water to include some starches like potatoes and rice. Mozambique is the new destination of the stars including Emma Watson and Tom Hanks who flock there to unplug, enjoy nature, and indulge in luxurious fitness and beauty treatments. The London-based DJ pair, NERVO, has been signed by CoverGirl cosmetics, joining a list of musical names turned brand spokeswoman including Janelle Monae, Taylor Swift, and Pink. Copper is the latest breakthrough in skincare. The metal helps elastin to repair skin, and a new, smaller molecule allows it to penetrate even deeper into the skin. Ombré hair comes to at home coloring with Feria’s Wild Ombré color kit. The new product features a vertical brush to deposit color in the gradual color fade that popularized the trend.
